25.04.2016 Mixer in a container

Gebr. Lödige Maschinenbau, Paderborn, Germany, will be unveiling a special version of its FKM 600 ploughshare mixer at IFAT, the world’s foremost trade fair for environmental technologies which takes place 30 May – 3 June in Munich. The mobile mixer is installed inside a standard freight container and has been specially designed for heavy-duty industrial applications, giving users for the first time the opportunity to perform practical wear tests directly on site.

Mixing of highly abrasive materials in medium to large volumes poses exacting technical demands. In addition to wear calculations, practical wear tests help to determine the right choice of tool for the specific mixing task. Lödige developed the Mixer-in-the-Box specifically for this purpose. Installed inside a 40ft container, the fully assembled and immediately functional machine with a drum volume of 600 litres can be transported anywhere, enabling full-scale wear tests to be carried out at the customer’s premises. The ploughshare mixing mechanism has shovel armour plating made of tungsten carbide, achieving a Vickers hardness of over 3000 and resulting in a significantly increased service life. www.loedige.de
