28.08.2012 Special heated mixer for Chinese compounding line

Lindor, Dordrecht, the Netherlands, has designed and built a heated mixer for Switzerland based BUSS AG. The mixing drum has been designed using state-of-the-art technologies. The heated mixer is being used for enhancing product characteristics of special compounds which are produced by BUSS compounding lines in several countries including China, Spain, Saudi Arabia and India.

In the process of producing special HDPE and LDPE compounds, the Lindor mixer is used for soaking the granulate with a special liquid. Also while mixing, the heated liquid is being sprayed on to the granulate, which enables the materials to gain the required physical characteristics within a defined conversion time.

Hans Hügel, BUSS sales manager for overseas business, said: “We have been working together with Lindor for about five years and we have integrated the heated mixers in several BUSS installations. We have chosen the Lindor mixer as they are designing their products with the latest state-of-the-art technology”. The mixer for BUSS in China is of the type L4000HC and has been custom built with a water heated mixing drum, water heated injection lance and special contactless seals.

The extreme purity specifications of this product (‘contamination’ << 1ppm) necessitated a redesign of the drum seals, since the slightest seal wear would cause an unacceptable level of contamination. Therefore the seals have now been designed in a way that avoids contact between the rotating and stationary components.www.lindor.nl
