03.10.2016 Cement plants upgraded to ‘Smart Factory’ standard

Schenck Process, Darmstadt, Germany, has successfully installed two of its innovative LOGiQ® despatch automation systems at Russian cement works located in Ferzikovo and Voskresensk, both of which are operated by Switzerland-based  LafargeHolcim Group. This has resulted in the plants being upgraded to the Group’s ‘Smart Factory’ standard. LOGiQ networks the local intelligence of matched hardware and software modules for logistics solutions in bulk materials handling. The system automates processes and material flows at all points between ordering and despatch. At the same time, the software controls information flowing from and to production processes and commercial systems while interacting with the people and machines involved. If the customer’s requirements change, the system can be flexibly adapted to new needs.

At Ferzikovo there are three incoming and outgoing scales as well as 11 loading stations for bulk cement and two bag loading stations. Schenck Process converted the truck reception/exit areas with self-service registration , the incoming and outgoing scales and all loading points for fully automatic, unmanned operation. At Voskresensk conversion work included truck reception/despatch, incoming and outgoing scales, three loading scales and one loading point for packaged goods.

At Ferzikovo alone more than 300 road powder tankers are processed daily around the clock. www.schenckprocess.com

Since 2013 Schenck Process has implemented the LOGiQ system at various LafargeHolcim cement plants, including 18 in eastern Europe
