24.09.2012 Mauser expands in SE Asia

Mauser Group, Bruehl, Germany, a worldwide leading company in industrial packaging, has opened a new site in China. The company states that the accelerated growth rate in Asian countries has resulted in a demand for high-quality packaging solutions. In order to fulfil the needs of its expanding local customer base, the company has invested 15 million euros and opened a new plant in Jiangyin. This will produce intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), 210-litre L-ring and open top drums, as well as 210-litre steel drums. It is believed to be the only plant in China to manufacture PE- and steel drums as well as IBCs.

Christian Schaedlich has been appointed special business unit manager for the Asia Pacific region. He will be responsible for the expansion and strategic alignment of all of Mauser’s Asian businesses from the company’s office in Shanghai. He succeeds Hans-Peter Schaefer, who was appointed as CEO of Mauser Group in February, and will also report directly to him. Schaedlich has been in senior management positions throughout Asia for the past 20 years. Prior to joining Mauser, he was CFO at Wacker Chemicals in Greater China.
The company has also just opened its new steel drum plant in Singapore. The new site will enable Mauser to triple its steel drum production in that country and is designed to replace the existing plant in Benoi Road, Singapore, which has been manufacturing uncoated drums since 2006. www.mausergroup.com
