Wear-resistant conveying systems for aggregate blending plant
Guttridge, Spalding, UK, has supplied a series of bucket elevators and a Kleenbelt enclosed belt conveyor for installation at a new aggregate blending unit at the Lafarge Barnstone Works in Nottinghamshire. Lafarge is a global leader in the production of building materials and has installed the new plant to produce sand/cement/aggregate blends for specific applications within the construction industry. The six Hi-Load bucket elevators are used for vertical transfer of different product streams – cement, aggregate, sand and associated mixtures – at various points in the process. The Kleenbelt, capable of ensuring flow rates up to 800m3/h, conveys a cement and sand mixture from a vibratory screen to the elevator feeding the mixer. All equipment was supplied with a variety of features designed to ensure reliable long-term handling of abrasive materials with minimal manual intervention as well as easy maintenance.
Commenting on the performance of the Guttridge equipment, Lafarge project manager Adam Elmes said: “We were impressed with the company’s willingness to innovate new solutions that would help us to achieve the very highest levels of reliability – a major goal for our site.” www.guttridge.co.uk
