12.02.2018 Hygienic compression load cells

Eilersen Electric, Kokkedal, Denmark, has introduced a new series of digital load cells in an aseptic design for dynamic weighing, process weighing, filling, packaging and general weighing applications primarily in food and pharma industries. The EHEDG-compliant hygienic design is believed to be unique – no exposed grooves, threads or hidden crevices. This facilitates cleaning to minimise risk of bacteria and contamination on the cells.
All Eilersen load cells are based on a highly accurate and very robust capacitive measuring principle. This technology allows for installation without the need for complicated, non-hygienic stay rods, checking assemblies and overload protection devices, any of which can result in a non-hygienic final installation.
The new range of Eilersen compression load cells, Type CL and CM, is based on a patent-pending capacitive sensor design which provides accuracy with a very high tolerance to overloads and side-loads. Certified for installation in ATEX zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, the range was developed for use primarily in food-grade installations but can be used in general industry to measure compression loads or forces. They can be supplied with a stainless steel base plate that matches the hygienic load cell design and facilitates installation on almost any surface. Specifications of the CL and CM range have been optimised through a proprietary ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit), which is manufactured for Eilersen utilising latest technologies.
The company will be exhibiting on Stand H 053 in Hall 10.2 at Anuga FoodTec, Cologne, 20-23 March, where its recently launched Type BL hygienic beam load cell (see EBS News for week of 14 August 2017) will also be featured.  
The new Eilersen Type CL and CM compression load cells come in individual capacities up to 25,000kg and are produced in electro-polished stainless steel while being hermetically sealed (IP68) by laser welding
