19.03.2018 Automatic filling and closing of single-loop bulk bags

Concetti, Bastia Umbria, Italy, has introduced an automatic bulk bag weighing, filling and closing system which is operated by just one person. The new net weighing and filling station can accommodate up to 150 single-point-lift bulk bags per hour, ensuring high productivity combined with flexibility. The system provides for automation of a manual process that on average employs three members of staff, greatly reducing costs and ensuring greater safety at work.
The machine operator only needs to locate the bag to the filling spout, while all subsequent steps such as bag inflation, alignment of the open mouth of the bag after filling, transfer of the bag in the sealing station, heat sealing of the bag mouth, lifting of the bag hook and insertion of the mouth of the internal liner inside the bag, are carried out automatically. A forklift operator removes the filled bulk bags at the end of filling operations.
This automatic filling system is also innovative because its flexibility allows for the first time, thanks to an adjustable bag-stack system, use of bulk bags of different heights, depending on the needs and requirements of the machine and the application. The electronic weighing system is designed for high precision.
A notable application for the new filling station is bagging of aggressive and corrosive chemicals: the structural elements have been fabricated entirely from stainless steel and can be washed with water to prevent scaling. Concetti designs, builds and installs customised systems for weighing, bagging and palletising granular bulk products and powders in bags and bulk bags.
