02.04.2018 Conical mixer for very fast batch changes

amixon GmbH, Paderborn, Germany, points out that modern crop protection chemicals are derived from many successive stages of synthesis. In the final stage they are processed in high-performance powder mixers and then filled and packed. The active ingredients are of high purity and are present in an extremely high concentration. Against this background, users tend to look for the following features:
ideal mixture qualities and micro-fine de-agglomeration
short mixing times
easily controllable energy input for the retention of the formulations obtained from the compaction process
high discharge capability, ideally up to 100%
usability for varying filling levels from 10 to 100%, taking into consideration that some components are ground to a micro-fine consistency in the air-jet mill and are therefore highly fluidised
hygienic equipment design with regard to regular wet cleaning
gas-tight execution, suitable for over-pressure
ATEX compliance
compact, space-saving design.
There is a current industry trend to carry out such preparatory steps in smaller batches with substantially reduced mixing times. amixon has created a new blending system to meet these requirements, based on its mixing technology which employs helical mixing tools. Despite low rotational speeds, the mixing tool is said to achieve ideal mixing qualities within only 20-60 seconds. Complete discharge can be achieved in just a few seconds. This makes it possible to homogenise large-volume flows with small mixers.
This amixon powder mixer has been designed specifically to achieve fast batch changes during homogenisation of crop protection chemicals; it will be among the exhibits on the company’s stand at ACHEMA (Hall 6.0, Booth C76)
