29.10.2012 Leading Polyamide-6 producer invests further in underwater pelletising

BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg Granuliertechnik, part of the Kreyenborg Group, has just completed installation of additional underwater pelletizers at Xentrys Leuna GmbH, eastern Germany’s foremost producer of Polyamide-6. These machines enable many technological innovations to be carried out during the continuous process of polymerisation and their state-of-the-art design has frequently provided solutions for complex pelletising applications.
Xentrys Leuna, part of Belgian Domo-Chemicals, has been using underwater pelletizers made by BKG for the past 15 years. The latest machines were specially adapted on engineering advice provided by Bitterfeld-based consultancy KVI Weber. Owing to limited available space and the requirement of innovative production methods, the functional interaction of the melt valves beneath the reactors with the gear pumps, the melt filters and further auxiliary equipment presented a major challenge. BKG, located in Muenster, Germany, is the leading producer of underwater pelletising systems and to date has supplied this equipment to more than 25% of Polyamide-6 producers worldwide. www.bkg.de; www.kreyenborg-group.com
