05.11.2012 Explosion protection: new HRD lockout assembly design

Fike, Blue Springs, MO, has introduced a new design for its HRD lockout assembly. This is a mechanical barrier employed to prevent an accidental discharge of an explosion suppression container (HRD) into the process vessel during maintenance and cleaning of the vessel and/or protection system. It is fully compatible with all existing Fike explosion suppression installations.
"The HRD lockout's new primary sensor and magnet, electronically disable Fike's explosion protection controller (EPC) when the gate is not in the full open position," explained Rich Huff, Fike product manager, explosion protection. The new lockout assembly features a simplified design with easy-to-install electronics, 300 series stainless steel construction and optional secondary sensor for safe condition monitoring. The company’s European head office is in Herentals, Belgium. www.fike.com
