Earlier this year Master Magnets, Redditch, UK, was contacted by SODEX Mines in Nigeria, a specialist in the mining and processing of columbite concentrates used in the manufacture of superconductive alloys. Initial discussions between the two companies took place regarding the range of suitable magnetic separation equipment manufactured by the British company and it was concluded that the appropriate course of action was to conduct a series of sample tests on SODEX material in the Master Magnets laboratory.
An order was subsequently placed for two Mastermag  3-disc high-intensity disc separators and two Mastermag  2-roll high-intensity induced roll separators. Both machines were fitted with vibrating feeders to ensure an even flow of material into the separation zones and discharge chutes that can be adapted for collecting the minerals in trays or sacks.
