28.01.2013 Self-cleaning filters help paint producer to double capacity

Russell Finex, Feltham, UK, recently supplied 10 Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filters to the latest manufacturing facility of Visen, a leading Indian paint producer. Thanks largely to the enhanced efficiencies provided by the new filters, Visen has been able to increase total production capacity for latex emulsion to 220,000t/yr from its various manufacturing plants throughout India, almost double the previous output.
The installation of the filters has enabled the company to eliminate problems associated with an earlier manual filter cloth system. With their reusable filter elements, the Eco Filters have minimised production downtime, as stoppages to change filter cloths are no longer required. Substantial cost savings have also been gained as the removable element can be easily cleaned and used repeatedly, removing the high disposal and replacement costs which Visen experienced with the earlier filter cloth system.
A key requirement was for the new system to operate without constant supervision. With the new arrangement, the product is unaffected by atmospheric elements and therefore there is minimal risk of skins forming in the latex emulsion which could subsequently form blockages. In addition, with the installation of the Russell Filter Management System™ which is designed to provide continuous monitoring of the filtration process, the filters are able to run efficiently without operator involvement. This not only offers health advantages for the workforce, but also releases the operators to perform other tasks around the factory. www.russellfinex.com
