04.02.2013 Focus on storage and discharge of bulk solids

The Wolfson Centre, University of Greenwich, UK, is organising 5-7 March a short course on storage and discharge of bulk solids. This will deal with the basics in operation, design and specification of hoppers and silos and aims to provide the knowledge to assist in identifying powder handling, storage and discharge problems and the techniques which can be employed to overcome them. The following topics will be covered: basics of hopper and silo function; dealing with potential problems; determination of hopper geometry for hopper flow; discharge aids and interfacing to feeders; and feeder design. Practical examples will also be given.
The new practical session in the on-site laboratory will give delegates the opportunity to test their own materials using different characterisation techniques discussed during the course. Discounts are available for group /multiple bookings. Numbers for the seminars are limited to allow delegates the time to discuss their own operational needs and problems.
