04.02.2013 Vos Logistics invests in growth

At the end of 2012 Vos Logistics, Oss, the Netherlands, acquired the business of  VSL SiloLogistics also based in Oss, whose activities include the warehousing and storage, packing and distribution of dry bulk goods such as starch and various granular products. The newly acquired site, situated alongside a waterway, has 45 silos with storage capacity of 30,000m³. The 15 staff have been re-employed by Vos Logistics. In November the company opened a new 15,000m² distribution centre in Roosendaal for decorative coatings, adhesives and fillers. In the near future facilities will be added for mixing and blending coatings to customers’ requirements.
Vos Logistics launched its fleet renewal programme in 2011 with the aim of replacing 600 tractor units with Euro 5 and 6 trucks. Some 270 new trucks were purchased in 2011 and a further 160 last year. The company began to replace its trailers in the fourth quarter of 2012 and in total 500 new trailer units will be purchased including mega trailers, silo trailers and swap-bodies. Some 200 new mega trailers and silo trailers will be taken into operation during the first half of this year. “Despite the economic headwind we were able to close 2012 with a profit and adhere to our plans to strengthen Vos Logistics and make the company more sustainable”, said CEO Frank Verhoeven. www.voslogistics.com
