The Dutch technology group Verder has boosted international business activities by expanding its range of products. In addition to classic laboratory and analytical technology, its focus has now extended to high-temperature material testing and physiochemical analysis.  The group comprises two main business units: Liquids (positive displacement pumps) and Scientific (laboratory equipment). With more than 800 employees and subsidiaries in 19 countries, it generates a turnover of 160 million euros. For many years Retsch and Retsch Technology have been the mainstay of the Scientific Division which is currently headed by Dr Jürgen Pankratz. The division has recently been enlarged by the acquisitions of Endecotts Ltd, Eltra GmbH and Carbolite Ltd.
Eltra, which was acquired last year, has now relocated  to the Haan, Germany, head office of Retsch. This latest acquisition specialises in elemental analysis of organic and inorganic materials. As a result the Verder Group has significantly strengthened its position as a leading supplier of system solutions for sample preparation and analysis of solids. www.verder-scientific.com
