29.07.2013 Bolt-Tec silos now up to 1000m³ capacity

Several years ago Zeppelin Systems, Friedrichshafen, Germany, introduced the Bolt-Tec concept, whereby silo sections no longer need to be welded but can instead be bolted together on site, allowing faster assembly times and a reduction in shipping costs of up to 30%. Bolt-Tec silo segments can be transported in standard freight containers. Compared to transporting a complete silo, freight costs for a 40ft container are considerably less. This is especially beneficial for regions with less developed infrastructure where conventional silos can only be moved by expensive wide-load transport.

Until very recently the maximum size of a Bolt-Tec silo was 500m³, but thanks to a major technical breakthrough this has now been doubled to 1000m³. As a result of this development Zeppelin hopes the Bolt-Tec silo will become the global storage vessel of choice for polymer pellets and similar products. This and other innovations will be exhibited by the company at K 2013, Düsseldorf, 16-23 October (Hall 9, Stand B41). www.zeppelin.com
