23.09.2013 J-Tec secures North African contract with a little help from its parent

J-Tec Material Handling, Kapellen, Belgium, recently won a major order to engineer and build an integrated blending line for delivery to a country in North Africa. The installation comprises four main components: dry material handling, CIP, kneading and bagging. For this project the company was able to take advantage of the facilities provided by its parent organisation Katoen Natie, which has over 4.8 million square meters of warehousing located throughout 25 countries.

Because the entire system is to be installed in North Africa, a number of potential difficulties presented themselves including administrative issues, local regulations and special banking requirements, all of which posed a risk of potential problems. J-Tec points out that whenever a single item of equipment needs to be imported there is an overload of accompanying paperwork. In order to sidestep this problem and guarantee that the complete project would be delivered on schedule, the company came up with an ingenious solution. It made use of a vacant warehouse owned by Katoen Natie which is situated close to its Kapellen headquarters. Here J-Tec has been able to build and pre-wire the entire installation, allowing it to be thoroughly tested both with and without product. The installation was also engineered in specific modules and skids in order to simplify and facilitate its delivery to the customer’s site. www.j-tec.com
