07.04.2014 Higher-pressure, higher-temperature slide gate

Vortex, Salina, KS, has introduced its new patented TPV slide gate valve. Engineered for higher-pressure applications with minimal maintenance, the unit has been designed to handle up to 6.8 barg as well as to withstand temperatures up to 350°C in gravity flow, dilute phase, or dense phase pneumatic conveying applications.
The TPV features Vortex’s patented rising-blade technology ensuring an optimal seal and positive material shut-off with the use of lifting lugs. This prevents the blade from jamming or packing material upon closure in the full bonnet, which can cause significant downtime. Other features include ductile iron housing, spring-loaded blade guides, double acting air cylinder, mounting boss for optional proximity switch, and a standard purge port. Unlike most knife gate valves, the TPV contains a replaceable seat that can significantly increase the service-life of the valve. The TPV is part of the Titan Series product line that Vortex launched in late 2012 for handling highly abrasive material such as cement, clinker, coal, fly ash, sand, gravel, glass and limestone. In Europe the company has offices in the UK and Switzerland backed up by a network of distributors. www.vortexvalveseurope.com
