27.10.2014 Laboratory-scale pelletising disc

Haver Engineering, Meissen, Germany – part of the Haver & Boecker Group – has specially developed the HAVER SC 500 pelletising disc to meet the requirements of laboratories serving the mechanical process engineering sector. With a diameter of only 500mm, it allows for the first time small-scale studies and trials to be performed on agglomeration in continuous operation without the need for large material quantities. As a result, representative findings can be obtained and applied directly to the actual production process: for example, the effectiveness of binding agents and additives.
The rotary speed and processing inclination angle can be changed during operation and thereby enable a direct impact on pellet size, pellet size distribution and strength. Thanks to its flexible design it is also possible to utilise the SC 500, which was unveiled at this year’s POWTECH, for producing very small batches. It can be applied to a variety of materials including ash, dolomite, iron ore, gold ore, graphite, potassium chloride, lime hydrate, limestone, sludge ash, metal oxide, mineral fertiliser, soot, rock salt, cement and zinc powder. As an option the unit is available with automatic disc-edge height adjustment. It can be supplemented by a material feeder, water intake, dust hood, transport carriage and computer particle analysis. www.haverengineering.de
