03.11.2014 Clean belt conveyor for bulk foods

US-based Key Technology, with European head office in Beusichem, the Netherlands, has brought out its Sanitary Belt Conveyor designed to transport bulk foodstuffs on processing and packaging distribution lines. It features a positive drive urethane (PDU) belt, stainless steel frame and components, open construction, and other hygienic features. It is available in ‘dog leg’, flat, and inclined modular configurations that can be mounted to the floor, on casters, or suspended. Belts can be designed with a flat surface or a variety of shaped flights and/or flexible sidewalls to contain the product in pockets while elevating.
The USDA-approved belting is thermoformed to meet the needs of the application, providing a homogeneous and seamless surface with no crevices which might harbour bacteria. Compared to traditional bucket conveyors, which run on two chains that pose potential sanitation problems, food processors can achieve the same rise in elevation with this new belt conveyor whilst achieving enhanced hygiene. The unit can accommodate throughputs from 900kg/h to 27t/h and is suitable for handling a wide range of snacks such as potato crisps and nuts as well as processed fruits and vegetables, potato strips, fresh cut produce, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy products, wine grapes, pet foods, etc. www.key.net/products/belt-conveyor
