11.06.2012 Beumer heavy-duty belt bucket elevator technology saves money for Lafarge

Lafarge recently modernised production facilities at its cement plant at Wössingen, in the Baden region of Germany. This included upgrading the existing belt bucket elevator serving the raw mill. Intralogistics specialist Beumer Group, headquartered in Beckum, proposed its innovative heavy-duty bucket elevator technology, permitting higher conveying capacity and longer service life. Thanks to this new technology, the existing bucket elevator could be
easily altered without need to install a new system.

While developing the heavy-duty bucket elevator, the tensile strength of belts with wirefree zones was strengthened. The earlier belt had a tensile strength of 2500N/mm, whilst the new belt with wire-free zones has a tensile strength of 3300N/mm. “This belt has twice the service life of a chain. Bucket elevators fitted with this belt are a clear improvement over central chain bucket elevators when used for strongly abrasive material, such as clinker, ore
or blast-furnace slag", said a Beumer representative.
