The two Swiss companies Gerteis and Gericke will present at Achema later this month a fully developed solution for continuous tablet manufacturing. For this application, the companies have combined their feeding, mixing and dry granulation equipment to provide a complete continuous manufacturing module.

The complementary capabilities of the two equipment manufacturers enable processing of almost all harmaceutical powders, including those which are difficult to handle. Powder transport unit and tablet press may be integrated. The advantage of this ‘one stop shop’ approach lies in shortened planning and validation cycles as well as lower engineering costs.

Fully continuous production provided by this arrangement, is in line with the recommendations of the FDA’s “continuous manufacturing” initiative. Gericke manufactures unique solutions for continuous feeding and mixing of APIs, whilst Gerteis manufactures advanced roller compactors for dry granulation. A complete module for continuous tablet manufacturing will be exhibited on the Gerteis stand (Hall 3.0, Stand D25).
