27.04.2015 Retsch celebrates 100th anniversary

Retsch, Haan, Germany, part of the Dutch Verder Group, this year commemorates 100 years of successful trading. In 1915 Friedrich Kurt Retsch founded F. Kurt Retsch GmbH & Co. KG in Düsseldorf to supply laboratory equipment. By 1923 the company had patented an in-house manufactured mortar grinder which became known worldwide as the ‘Retsch Mill’, replacing tiresome manual grinding with hand mortars. This innovation earned Retsch an excellent reputation in the international science and research community.

Today the company holds numerous patents and is among the world’s foremost manufacturers of lab equipment for preparation and characterisation of solids in the fields of research and quality control. Its latest innovation, the Emax high energy ball mill, was launched in 2014 and has revolutionised ultrafine sample grinding down to the nanometer range. Retsch products are used in many different industries including chemicals, food, construction, pharmaceuticals and environment. In the niche market of laboratory mills the company offers the widest available range of equipment. It supplies about a fifth of the world market with an annual turnover of 50 million euros, of which more than 80% derives from exports. www.retsch.com
