20.08.2012 Grain terminal weighbridges undergo software upgrade

Grain terminal weighbridges undergo software upgrade When Clarkson Port Services opened its £1.5M grain terminal 15 years ago at the UK port of Ipswich it was among one of the first to achieve cost effective driver operation, but recently the system’s lack of flexibility has been holding up the expansion of the business.

The first step towards remedying the problem was to replace the existing driver-operated consoles (which had managed up to 150 trucks a day since 1998) with the latest generation of Precia-Molen driver console, the BI300, on all four weighbridges. As each weighbridge was previously integrated into the Precia-Molen GeneSYS™ 1 weighbridge and administration software, the software was upgraded to Precia-Molen GeneSYS 3 Enterprise, a central administration software, which includes new modules allowing features such as stock control and traceability from ship to shore, and store to customer. The GeneSYS system now allows simultaneous operation of all four weighbridges with the entire vehicle processing system ensuring vehicle drivers remain in their cabs throughout most of the cargo loading and unloading routine. The upgrade was carried out by the Redditch, UK, office of Precia-Molen.
