17.08.2015 Identifying contaminants in packed foods

Mesutronic Gerätebau, Kirchberg im Wald, Germany, has launched the Easyscope foreign matter detector. It will be exhibited for the first time at FachPack in September. The X-ray inspection system, designed for monitoring packed products, extends the company’s range of equipment for the food industry. It detects metallic and non-metallic contaminants such as glass, stones or plastics using an imaging technique – X-ray technology. Electromagnetic waves are emitted by the generator and penetrate the product. On the opposite side the non-absorbed radiation is picked up by diode receivers. The detection of the foreign matter is then based on the evaluation of the difference in density between the product and the contaminant. In particular with aluminium-packed or other highly conductive products, the detection accuracy is reported to exceed that of conventional magnetic field-based metal detectors several times over.

Easyscope complies with common industry standards such as BRC or IFS as well as with all statutory regulations. Its hygienic design minimises accumulation of liquids and product residues, thereby inhibiting the growth of microbes. www.mesutronic.de
