09.11.2015 Vacuum conveying where compressed air is not readily available

Piab, Taby, Sweden, is now offering a range of electro-mechanical pumps to complement its proprietary ejector pumps, as part of an initiative to broaden the scope for the company’s popular vacuum conveying systems and specifically its piFLOW® series. To enable those with limited access to compressed air to take full advantage of the benefits offered by piFLOW conveyors, which are normally powered by compressed-air driven ejector pumps, the company decided to add an electro-mechanical alternative from a reputable supplier. A complete range of electro-mechanical vacuum pumps of dry rotary vane type, matching Piab’s existing ejector pump portfolio, will now be able to serve piFLOW conveyors. The pumps are made by Becker and any service and maintenance related issues will be expertly dealt with by the manufacturer’s global support teams.

“Rotary vane pumps will be a great alternative for anyone wishing it use our piFLOW conveyors with mechanical pumps rather than ejector pumps, especially those with no compressors to power pneumatic ejector pumps,” commented Jarno Tahvanainen, vice president of Piab’s material handling division. piFLOW conveyors have been specially developed to meet stringent demands regarding operational safety and hygiene within pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries. www.piab.com
