Aumund celebrates 90th anniversary
On 3rd August 1922 Professor Heinrich Aumund laid the foundation stone to establish Aumund Fördererbau GmbH in Berlin. Today the company, since relocated to Rheinberg in the Lower Rhine region, operates globally with innovative and customer-oriented solutions for handling and conveying of demanding bulk materials. With its origins in conveying technology for the German mining industry, the company rapidly developed a series of different conveying systems which are employed nowadays in the cement industry, metallurgical industries, in power plants, in mining, but also in many other fields in which large volumes of bulk materials need to be continuously conveyed.
Apart from horizontal conveying up to 60 degrees angle of inclination, vertical conveying also plays an important role. Aumund belt bucket elevators nowadays achieve conveying capacities of up to 1500t/h, conveying heights of up to 160m and, thanks to a special design which has most recently been introduced to the market, they are also suitable for the conveying of coarse grain bulk materials.
Since the turn of the century the company has acquired B&W Mechanical Handling of the UK and Schade Lagertechnik, specialising respectively in mobile conveying installations for ports and terminals and state-of-the-art stockyard technology. The operative managing directorship was recently handed over by Franz-Walter Aumund to Dr Volker Brandenburg and to Joerg Hoffmann, who was previously in the equivalent position at Schade.
