Screening and dedusting of coffee beans
Virto Group, Mancasale, Reggio Emilia, Italy, recently supplied a Cuccolini VPM 1500 single-deck vibratory screener to a leading Italian coffee processor. It replaced an existing screening machine which failed to achieve the required throughput capacity owing to mesh blinding caused by broken coffee beans.
Virto’s challenge was to overcome the mesh blinding problems whilst achieving a capacity of at least 500kg/h. For this application a stainless steel mesh with 5000-micron aperture size was specified, along with a plastic cylinder mesh cleaning system. The mesh blinding problem was solved and the machine reliably achieved a capacity of 750kg/h. www.virtogroup.com
