04.04.2016 Hoerbiger further extends explosion protection portfolio with Brilex acquisition

Hoerbiger Group, Zug, Switzerland, on 1st April acquired privately held Brilex Gesellschaft für Explosionsschutz mbH, based in Brilon, Germany. Brilex is a leading provider of passive explosion relief venting products with over 20 years of industry experience. All interests in the company were privately held by founder Martin Bunse. It operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an experienced direct sales organisation and a broad network of distributors. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.

Brilex’s range of products include patented, ATEX-certified explosion vents developed in-house and flameless vents, which will complement Hoerbiger’s explosion relief valves. In September Hoerbiger purchased USA-headquartered IEP Technologies, LLC and in January acquired UK-based Newson Gale Ltd, both specialising in different areas of explosion protection (see EBS News for weeks of 31 August 2015 and 4 January 2016, respectively). "Our goal is to position Hoerbiger even more strongly as a safety technology solution provider in the industrial process industry with performance-defining safety solutions," commented the group’s CEO and chairman Dr Martin Komischke.  www.hoerbiger.com; www.brilex.eu
