18.07.2016 Drying in minutes rather than hours

Kreyenborg Plant Technology, Senden, Germany, will feature a variety of innovations at K-2016 which takes place 19-26 October in Düsseldorf. These will include latest versions of its IRD infrared rotary dryers which – among a wide range of applications – can be used for crystallising and drying virgin or regrind materials for a series of plastics such as ABS, EVA, HDPE, PC, PEEK, PET, PLA, PPS, PTFE, TPE and TPU. Through the use of continuously functioning IRD, the need for energy-intensive processing using dry air is completely eliminated, resulting in energy savings on average of at least 30%. The raw material is heated directly with infrared light that works especially gently, so that the vaporising moisture is diverted from the core of the material towards the outside. The raw material is conveyed evenly through the machine, and rotating of the drum ensures that it is carefully circulated and evenly heated, thereby eliminating clumping. The low rotation speed prevents breakage, abrasion and raising of dust from the product. www.kreyenborg.com
