19.09.2016 Blowers and compressors for use in explosive environments

RKR Gebläse und Verdichter GmbH (RKR blower and compressor GmbH), Rinteln, Germany, now has in place a panel of experts to ensure compliance with legal and operational requirements for the manufacturing of oil-free rotary lobe blowers and screw compressors employed in explosive atmospheres. Within the European Economic Area trade and use of gas blowers and compressors requires the consideration of ATEX directive 2014/34/EU. As early as the quotation phase RKR is able to provide customers with a qualified team of engineers and technicians to assure the ATEX compliance of its equipment for applications involving potential risk of explosion.

As is widely known, before an explosion can occur three elements need to be brought together in sufficient amounts: an ignition source, a fuel and oxygen. “We ensure the exclusion of the third factor which might cause an explosion”, stresses Carsten Semmler, ATEX expert at RKR. The company points out that the spectrum of applications in Ex-protection areas is diverse and the requirements have to be individually considered for each specific case.  Earlier this summer RKR extended its Rinteln factory with the addition of a further 600m² of manufacturing floor space. www.rkr.de
