07.11.2016 Australian cement producer opts for FFS PE packaging

Haver & Boecker, Oelde, Germany, reports that its Australian subsidiary has delivered an advanced packaging system to the Port of Brisbane manufacturing facility of Sunstate Cement, one of the country’s foremost manufacturers and suppliers of cementious products. The new system comprises: a ROTO-PACKER® ADAMS® 4 form-fill-seal packaging machine; a stretch-hooder made by Lachenmeier of Denmark; an IBAU drymix mixer; and a palletizer made by Newtec Bag Palletizing (the manufacturers of these last two items of equipment being Haver & Boecker subsidiaries).

“We wanted to offer our customers a superior type of packaging,” said Michael Fullelove, operations manager at Sunstate. “PE offers a number of additional significant benefits. One huge advantage is that customers can store product outside all year long which means increased storage capacity and the ability to optimise overall logistic expenses.” As well as being UV-resistant, PE bags are also dust-tight which creates safer and cleaner working conditions, and an essential advantage at point of sale. The advantages of packaging powder-type products into polyethylene bags using FFS technology are providing companies around the world with the opportunity to gain a competitive edge, explained a Haver & Boecker representative. www.haverboecker.com
