12.12.2016 Head of Beumer’s Danish subsidiary appointed honorary consul

Beumer Group, Beckum, Germany, reports that Klaus Schäfer, managing director of its Danish group company based in Aarhus, has been appointed honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Central Jutland region. In addition to his responsibilities working for Beumer, his new duties will include fostering closer ties between Germany and Denmark – with an emphasis on both trade and culture. He has many years of professional experience in Denmark, making him well suited for the task.

Aarhus is the second-largest city in Denmark and has been selected as European Capital of Culture for 2017, which will ensure that Mr Schäfer is kept busy with many ceremonial duties next year: attendance at cultural events, lectures and musical performances; opening exhibitions; maintaining contacts with universities; and promoting close relations between Germany and Denmark as business partners. “With my experience and the many contacts that I have made during my professional career, I can bring the right people together,” he said. “I know conditions on the labour market, so I can provide solid information to German employees and companies.”

The position of honorary consul does not provide any salary. “It doesn’t offer any particular privileges or benefits, either,” he added. “I’ll still have to pay any parking tickets I might get.” www.beumergroup.com
