13.02.2017 Rapid pulverisation of lumps

Van Beek, Drunen, the Netherlands, has developed a robust lump breaker which has been designed for use in the food and chemical industries. The machine is capable of dealing effectively with lump formation or agglomerations, for example turning them to powder. It crushes everything that is bigger than a couple of granules stuck together. This effective machine has already saved the day for manufacturers in various ways: for example, when lumps were continually blocking a rotary valve resulting in unscheduled stoppages. Since the lump breaker was installed upstream, this problem has been solved.

The lump breaker is also ideally suited to pulverising lumps so they dissolve better in a mixing tank. The product to be reduced falls through a chute on to rotating pins. These are sturdy round bars that rotate above a grating. Nothing passes through the grating without being crushed and the customer can decide the appropriate mesh width. The company provides product tests to determine what type of grating is most suitable for a specific process. Van Beek can supply customised lump breakers. The machine is available in SS304 and SS316 and has an installation height of around 400mm. It can be supplied in various voltages. A version suitable for ATEX is also available. As an option the lump breaker can also be built on a rail which simplifies cleaning. www.van-beek.nl
