05.11.2012 Robotic palletising of natural stones

Beumer, Germany, has recently supplied a robotpac articulated robot palletiser to Gandl Natursteine , a major Bavarian supplier and processor of natural stones. Previously the stones had been delivered to customers in bulk, but bagged deliveries were found to be more efficient. The robotpac 600 palletises up to 200 bags per hour, but if necessary the hourly rate can be increased to 400 bags, depending on package size and packing pattern. Several packages can be gripped and moved at the same time to increase capacity.
The robotic palletiser contains a multi-program for all packing patterns and it can easily be switched to handle other sizes or materials at the push of a button, or automatically by barcode identification. An ultrasonic system provides accurate measurement of the stacking height, making it possible to calculate the exact placing position of the packaged goods and stack these precisely and carefully. This guarantees an optimal stack configuration. www.beumergroup.com
