01.03.2021 Elevated pipe conveyors for Austrian cement plant

BEUMER Group, Beckum, Germany, recently won an order from Lafarge Zementwerke, Mannersdorf, to install a conveying system for alternative fuels and raw materials. The customer stands to benefit from an optimum price-performance ratio and state-of-the-art technology, commented a BEUMER spokesperson.

For an economical and sustainable operation, Lafarge’s Mannersdorf plant relies on plastic waste as an alternative fuel and raw material. When the old conveying system was irreparably damaged after a fire in June 2020, the owner commissioned BEUMER to supply a new and more powerful system. The order includes two pipe conveyors, which transfer the material. The first conveyor has a diameter of 200mm and a length of 87m. Its conveying capacity amounts to 10t/h. The second pipe conveyor is 192m long, has a diameter of 250mm and a conveying capacity of 22t/h. The lifting heights amount to some 39m and the maximum angle of inclination is 15 degrees. There are also three buffer bins and a weigh feeder. In addition to the delivery and installation, the BEUMER team is also responsible for engineering and commissioning.

"As a team, we were able to convince the persons responsible of our solution," said Andrea Prevedello, CEO, BEUMER Group Austria. The proposed design of both pipe conveyors has been developed and planned with foresight, so that the systems can be expanded as required and their conveying capacities increased without major modifications. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-April of this year. www.beumer.com
