17.12.2012 Replacement bulk intake weighers at brewery

Molson Coors Brewing Company has installed two new full-load-cell EPG bulk weighers at its maltings site in Shobnall, Burton-upon-Trent, UK. The equipment was supplied by the UK division of Chronos BTH, the Netherlands. The two new weighers, for recording incoming malt and barley, were installed and commissioned to replace existing mechanical EPG scales that were originally installed by Richard Simon over 20 years ago. The project also involved decommissioning and removal of the old weighers.
Since early 2003 all of the original Richard Simon specifications and drawings have been available for use by fellow Premier Tech company Chronos BTH. Having access to the original project files and design authority documentation , enabled Chronos to manufacture the replacement bulk weighers to the same overall size and specification, which greatly simplified the installation process. Control of the new weighers, which are rated at 50 and 90t/h, is being performed by two CHRONO-WEIGH™ PC456i controllers, which were supplied in special cabinets to meet Molson Coors’ ATEX requirements at the Shobnall site. www.chronosbth.com
