21.01.2013 Short courses on bulk solids handling

The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, University of Greenwich, UK, has released details of its 2013 programme of short courses. These are designed to help equip delegates with the means to identify the causes of many processing difficulties that may arise across a range of industries – helping to save time and increase productivity. The range of services and knowledge offered by the Centre is unique within Europe.

Topics covered by the one- and two-day courses will include:

• Biomass handling, feeding and storage
• Pneumatic conveying for bulk solids
• Storage and discharge of powders and bulk solids
• Practical powder characterisation and sampling for industry
• Dust explosion  - compliance to DSEAR/ATEX
• Overview of particulate handling technology.

Many of these will also provide an optional third day practical session in the centre’s laboratories.
Specially recommended is a one-day course on ‘Segregation, degradation and caking’ scheduled for 4 June. This has been designed to help process engineers understand many of the common problems encountered by industry when handling bulk materials.  The content of the course reflects the large proportion of consultancy work undertaken at the Wolfson Centre relating to the subjects of segregation (de-mixing), degradation (damaging or spoiling) and caking (lumping) of powders and particulates during their various handling, storage and discharging processes. For full details of all of the courses available, and on-line booking, go to: www.bulksolids.com

A key attraction of the Wolfson Centre is its ability to identify subject material tailored to industry for which there is little existing provision
