01.04.2013 Sampling heavily compacted materials

Bürkle, Bad Bellingen, Germany, has introduced its all-layer drill, a special zone collector specifically designed for heavily compacted substances. The company points out that it is often very difficult or impossible with conventional zone collectors to penetrate materials of this type and to take a sample extending through all layers. By contrast, the drilling blades of the all-layer drill burrow easily and quickly to the required depth without need for any great force. This makes it easy to take samples from materials, even those of high density, and every type of severely compacted powders and granulates.
The 25mm diameter all-layer drill is made of stainless steel V4A (1.4404) and is ideal for sampling products carried in large containers such as bulk bags as well as stockpiled material. www.buerkle.de
