15.04.2013 Strain sensor provides accurate weighing of silos

A new round strain sensor is being employed by Middendorf Systems, Pulheim, Germany, for accurate weighing of silos, containers and tanks. It can be mounted, for example, on silo legs or cross braces and measures the deformation of the surface structure by compression. The 360° detection guarantees a high measuring accuracy. Measurements with a deviation of <1% can be achieved easily for many applications. In addition, the sensor is insensitive to temperature and particularly suitable for all applications with a high ambient temperature.
The modern weighing technology can be easily integrated into a control system or a computer network. For data transfer Ethernet, USB, RS 232/485 and analogue interfaces are available. The installation of the sensor does not require a complex and expensive renovation of existing plant installations. With this strain sensor silos can be easily retrofitted with weighing technology. www.middendorf.eu
