GSBI recovers from last year’s earthquake
Almost one year after the disastrous earthquake that hit the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, the Components and Spare Parts Division GSBI (Govoni Sim Bianca Impianti) reports that it has managed with great effort to overcome the most critical period of the emergency. It is now able to operate again to its usual quality standards and has managed to re-establish timely delivery of equipment orders.
During the night of 20 May 2012 the company’s production and warehouse facilities had been completely destroyed and the office buildings were seriously damaged. Employees were
immediately relocated to two different temporary premises, but unfortunately both equipment and component stocks as well as die-casts kept in the warehouse were lost. This caused a sudden cessation of all production, and local suppliers were similarly affected by the earthquake. GSBI has endured a very difficult past 11 months but has managed to pull through. It suffered serious delays in receiving materials from suppliers and as a consequence in deliveries to customers, but the company is now fully up and running at its new headquarters in San Lazzaro near Bologna.
Ing. Sergio Benea, component and spare parts division manager, said: “A big thanks go to all our customers who have supported us, confirming their trust and sending us their encouragement despite the hardships that inevitably we have caused them, thus allowing us to look at our future with renewed commitment and desire for recovery and improvement.” GSBI Components and Spare Parts Division – which owns the Govoni, Sim Bianca and Pulsair Macchine brands – produces a wide range of bulk solids handling and pneumatic conveying equipment. www.gsbimpianti.com
