29.04.2013 Better mixing technology results in doubled toothpaste output

Ekato Systems, Schopfheim, Germany, part of the Ekato Group, recently supplied a mixing system to a toothpaste manufacturer at the heart of which was the company’s UNIMIX SRC 10,000. One of the biggest challenges was keeping a homogeneous distribution of active ingredients (e.g. sodium fluoride) and thus being able to guarantee uniformity, which can be easily affected by small fluctuations in the dispensing system. The production of toothpaste represents the requirement of a high product output and an ensured reproducibility of high product quality with maximum flexibility with respect to product change and product variation.
Each of two 10,000 litre production units can manufacture up to 12,000-16,000kg toothpaste per cycle thanks to the use of ideally combined mixing and homogenising technology from Ekato Systems. This yields a product output of between 6000/8000 and 8000/11,000kg/h, corresponding to a more than doubled production rate. Using the developed design, the parameters are not only met, but exceeded. The world’s largest discontinuous production system for toothpaste sets a new scale of 10,000 litre batch volume thanks to the mixing and homogenising technology. The compact design additionally allows an optimal usage of the production area. www.ekato.com
