15.07.2013 Innovative filters for wood processing and food industries

Typhoon, Beveren-Leie (Waregem), Belgium, has developed two new dust filter ranges. The first of these are ATEX approved, suitable for flow rates up to 20, 000m³/h and will mainly be deployed in the wood industry. The rectangular filters made of galvanised steel have been designed to fill a gap in the current dust filter market. Because of their height and shape they require less installation space. The second new type of filter has been specifically designed for the food industry. Also ATEX approved, it can be fabricated from carbon steel or stainless steel.

“The series of new dust filters are unique in their segment due to their cost price, limited time-to-install and their low maintenance requirements”, said managing director Kris Devidt. Typhoon, which was founded in Belgium in 1959, is best known for its turnkey projects in air technology, including industrial dedusting, pneumatic conveying and separation techniques. However, within the past few years individual Typhoon components have started to gain popularity both within Europe and beyond. Typhoon , which has a subsidiary in Tilburg, the Netherlands, has been manufacturing equipment and components for more than 50 years. All production takes place in Beveren-Leie. In January 2010 a management buyout took place with the help of a private equity fund (“The Talent Capital Bridge”) and a private investor. This gave the firm a new impetus. At the end of 2012, it had achieved a consolidated turnover of 8.6 million euros and recorded an annual revenue increase of one million euros. Typhoon has a total of 52 employees at its Belgian and Dutch offices. www.typhoon.be; www.typhoonlt.nl
