21.10.2013 Microfeeder for precise control of minor ingredients

Coperion K-Tron, Niederlenz, Switzerland, has introduced a new microfeeder offering a feed rate capacity from 0.02 to 27dm3/h. The unit, which was unveiled at the K-Show last week, provides several design upgrades to improve accuracy and performance, including interchangeable 12mm and 16mm twin and single screw feeding modules. These ensure sufficient versatility to handle a broad variety of powders or granular materials over a wide range of feed rates. The new design includes extended screw profiles and a smaller overall mounting footprint which allows for closer discharge dimensions in multi-ingredient cluster arrangements. The unit is easy to dismantle, clean and maintain. It includes a totally enclosed IP65 weight sensor and drive motor with improved higher torque for handling difficult materials.
The microfeeder is especially suitable for applications which require feeding of high-value additives in any plastics, food, pharmaceutical or chemical process where there is a need for extreme accuracy. Typical applications include feeding jet mills, continuous extrusion processes, micro ingredient batching or any application where expensive ingredients require accurate metering or batching at very low feed rates. www.coperionktron.com
