Dec Group (Dietrich Engineering Consultants), headquartered in Ecublens, Switzerland, reports that it has successfully integrated its new dosing unit, the DosiValve, into its PTS Powder Transfer System, thereby eliminating the need for an intermediate receptacle such as a buffer hopper between transferring and dosing. Dosing of solids is achieved by means of a closing cone. This specially designed piston, which is pneumatically powered, opens and closes the gap to allow passage of bulk product according to the required parameters. By varying these settings it is possible to control velocity, mass throughput and precision. Easy cleaning and sterilisation (CIP/SIP) is another significant benefit. By operating in combination, for example, with the company’s Continuous Liner System, it is possible to transfer, accurately dose and package powder and granules into bags as part of a fully integrated and automated production step for manufacturing plants. www.dec-group.net
