24.02.2014 High-capacity powder screening with integrated metal detection and sampling

Dinnissen Process Technology, Sevenum, the Netherlands, has developed a line of high-capacity powder screening systems with built-in metal detection and automatic sampling functionality. They are intended for smaller and medium-sized food companies which wish, or need, to comply with rigorous safety and hygiene requirements when carrying out efficient quality control on products such as milk, starch, and cocoa powders. The new concept allows food producers to screen fine powders within the ≤100-1000 micron range at very high throughput rates (up to 30-40t/h), thereby avoiding risk of product contamination. The new system is based on a centrifugal screen, which allows ingredients to be introduced into the screening chamber via a special transfer system and then suspended by means of rotating blades. Centrifugal force ensures that larger particles are immediately transported onwards and removed, whilst finer particles are allowed to pass through the appropriate screen. By using various combinations of rotational speed, screen perforation size, and screen length, practically any desired screening result can be achieved. www.dinnissen.nl

Later this spring the Dinnissen powder screening concept, along with other company innovations, will be featured at three European trade shows: interpack, VIV and SCHÜTTGUT
