NEU International Process, La Chapelle d’Armentières, France, has introduced NEUPULSE, a new low-velocity dense phase positive pressure pneumatic conveying system which transfers product in plug flow mode. Conveying speed is 3-7m/s, depending on the product, with pressures under 1 bar. The general operating principle involves feeding through a rotary valve to a feed hopper equipped with two air inlets set up with valves that open and close alternately. This creates product plugs of a specific size in the pipe network. Used on short circuits for uniform powders or pellets, it concentrates the material without need for high pressure. Guaranteeing product particle size without degradation, it is a very simple system to install without need for large items of ancillary equipment. Flow rates vary from 0 to 10t/h. It can be installed in place of a dilute phase system and can operate at higher pressures between 1 and 2 bar, thereby allowing longer conveying distances.
