Kreisel, Krauschwitz, Germany, in mid-February purchased the business of Schäffer-Verfahrenstechnik, based in Thierhaupten near Augsburg, from regional insolvency practitioners. Acquisition of the company, which had declared itself bankrupt in November owing to adverse trading conditions, went ahead with the approval of creditors, the Schäffer family and former employees. Some 30 staff will retain their jobs in the relaunched Schäffer Verfahrenstechnik GmbH which is now being managed by Mario Sonntag, who had previously been head of purchasing and materials management at Kreisel’s head office.

“The Schäffer products, which include screw feeders and lump breakers, are a suitable supplement and extension of our product range”, said managing director Wolfram Kreisel.
