14.04.2014 Rotary valves EHEDG-certified for dry cleaning: a world first

Coperion, Weingarten, Germany, as an extension to its range of type ZRD discharge valves and type ZXD blow-through valves, is now offering the food industry the first rotary valves in Hygienic PLUS versions to be certified in compliance with the criteria of the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG), type ED. Important features of the Hygienic PLUS rotary valves are that they can be quickly dismantled and that the component areas can be easily accessed for cleaning and inspection. The surfaces are smooth and the interfaces to the areas in contact with the product are step-free. Both valve types – designed for applications involving production, processing and transport of food-grade powders and pellets – are also available in versions suitable for use in potentially explosive areas (ATEX zones). Coperion was already a pioneer several years ago in the development of CIP-compliant (cleaning-in-place) certified rotary valves and diverter valves that are cleaned with liquids. www.coperion.com
