14.07.2014 Valves repaired and reconditioned

Rota Val, Chippenham, UK, has recently set up a department to refurbish and repair old or damaged rotary and diverter valves. Originally established to handle Rota Val products, it now reconditions competitors’ valves as well. For example Norbord, which manufactures processed timber panel products for the flooring, roofing and furniture industries, sent in a Bush & Wilton valve (pictured) which had been used to handle wood resin. The build-up of resins was such that a pneumatic chisel was used to clear away the dried on resin. After re-boring and with a new rotor, the valve was completely renovated. Project managers at Norbord were sufficiently impressed that they have subsequently purchased two new Rota Val valves. A completely refurbished valve will have replacement seals, bearings and drive components. It will be cleaned and painted and when finished will look like a brand new product.

Because of the way that Rota Val valves are engineered, refurbishment is usually – though not always - a viable option. www.rotaval.co.uk
